Airline has warned flight times may be ‘slightly longer’
Virgin Atlantic has resumed a select number of flights from Heathrow to Dubai and Riyadh after airspace in the Middle East partially reopened on Monday.
The airline warned that some flights have been rerouted due to the “dynamic” situation, meaning there may be “slightly longer flight times”.
A flight to Riyadh operated by the carrier departed at 4.03pm today (March 3) and another is due to depart at 10.10pm.
In a statement, the airline said: “Following our latest assessments and in line with guidance from international aviation authorities, some of our flights are now operating in the region.
“Any decision to resume services is made only after thorough risk reviews and careful consideration of the latest intelligence available to us.
“While we intend to operate some flights as planned, the situation remains dynamic.
“We continue to monitor developments closely and will make further changes at short notice if required to ensure the ongoing safety and security of our customers and crew.”
