‘Landmark’ property to welcome guests this year after three-year renovation
Gran Hotel Taoro is preparing to reopen for the first time since 1975.
Following three years of renovations, the 134-year-old hotel will soon return as a “five-star retreat”.
The property, once considered the “first grand hotel in Spain”, will house 199 rooms and suites, including four presidential suites, many of which offer views of the ocean, botanical gardens and Mount Teide.
There will also be five food and beverage offerings: Japanese-Mediterranean fusion restaurant Oka; fine dining restaurant Lava complete with a chef’s counter; gourmet bistro Amalur; an open-air breakfast buffet; and poolside Mediterranean bar.
The hotel’s Sandára Wellness Centre is set to cater for “holistic wellbeing” with three heated pools, a fully equipped gym and a range of wellness treatments.
Gustavo Escobar, Gran Hotel Taoro’s general manager, said: “This property is more than a piece of history; it has long been part of the identity of Puerto de la Cruz.
“We look forward to recapturing its original splendour and setting a new benchmark for luxury experiences on the island.”
The property is owned by the Cabildo of Tenerife and managed by My Way Hotels & Resorts.
