Operations to Jeddah and Medinah will also resume from March 8
Malaysia Airlines has added flights from Kuala Lumpur to Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle to help repatriate passengers stranded due to airspace closures over the Gulf.
The first two additional flights took off yesterday (March 6), the first to Paris Charles de Gaulle and the second returning to Kuala Lumpur Airport.
A flight to Heathrow on March 7 was scheduled to take off at 10am local time, with another service in the opposite direction from Kuala Lumpur airport due to take off at 5.40pm local time.
On March 8, a further flight is due to take off from Kuala Lumpur Airport for Heathrow at 1.15am local time, and another flight is scheduled to leave from Heathrow at 8.30pm local time.
Malaysia Airlines has also confirmed it will resume normal operations to Jeddah and Madinah from March 8, while services to Doha will remain suspended until March 13.
The airline has said it is working closely with partner airlines to “facilitate onward connections” for passengers affected by disruption.
Bryan Foong, chief executive officer of airline business at Malaysia Aviation Group, said: “In times of uncertainty, aviation plays a vital role in keeping the world connected.
“We understand that behind every journey today are families hoping to reunite, students returning home, and travellers navigating an evolving global situation.
“Malaysia Airlines is stepping up by adding capacity where it matters, working closely with our partners and ensuring people can continue moving safely and reliably between Asia and Europe.
“Our role is not simply to operate flights, but to provide stability and reassurance when travellers need it most. Through these additional services, Malaysia Airlines is proud to play its part in keeping global connections open while delivering the warmth of Malaysian Hospitality that defines our airline.”
