Hotel brand to rebrand existing Hilton Manchester Deansgate by 2027
IHG Hotels & Resorts is set to open its first InterContinental property in Manchester.
The hotel group will take over management of Hilton Manchester Deansgate - currently owned by Blue Manchester Hotel Limited - with the property expected to be rebranded to InterContinental Manchester – Deansgate by 2027.
The property will undergo an extensive refurbishment but will remain open to guests during the transition.
The hotel will mark InterContinental’s fifth property in the UK and Ireland, joining InterContinental London - The O2, InterContinental London Park Lane, Intercontinental Edinburgh The George and InterContinental Dublin.
The property forms part of the 47-storey Beetham Tower, one of the tallest buildings outside of London.
Set across 22 floors, InterContinental Manchester – Deansgate will feature a ground-floor bar and restaurant, indoor pool, sauna, steam room, fitness centre, event space and 18 meeting rooms.
Willemijn Geels, vice-president of European development at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “The signing of InterContinental Manchester – Deansgate marks a significant milestone in our UK and Ireland development strategy as we bring the world’s first and most iconic luxury hotel brand to an important city in the UK.
“We are proud to begin our partnership with Blue Manchester Hotel Limited through such a momentous project and look forward to welcoming guests to what promises to be an extraordinary InterContinental experience.”
IHG Hotels & Resorts currently has more than 105 luxury hotels, with a further 72 in development across Europe. InterContinental hosts 34 of these properties in Europe, with an additional nine in the pipeline.
