Edinburgh gains first Relais & Châteaux hotel

Relais & Châteaux has welcomed nine new members to its portfolio, including its first property in Edinburgh and two new openings.

Prestonfield House at the foot of Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh is a 17th-century mansion built by the same architect as nearby royal residence Holyrood House. The property is set in a 20-acre estate five minutes from the city centre and features 18 rooms and five suites.

In Europe, Relais & Châteaux has also welcomed L’Auberge de l’Ill – Hôtel des Berges & Spa in the French commune of Illhaeusern and its first hotel on Lake Como. The 112-key Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni is the only luxury hotel in the town of Bellagio and is home to the largest spa in the Lake Como region as well as a private beach and new beach club.

Relais & Châteaux has also inducted two new openings into the organisation.

Gōra Kadan Fuji in the Japanese town of Hakone will become a Relais & Châteaux member when it opens on July 20. The property is set in Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, just a few miles from Mount Fuji, and will provide authentic Japanese hospitality, design and cuisine for guests of its 39 suites and three villas.

The second new hotel to join the portfolio is Borgo Pignano Florence, which will open in 2026. The property – a sister hotel to Borgo Pignano in Volterra – will be situated in 12 acres of landscaped grounds on Florence’s Montughi hill. It will comprise a 32-key hotel, standalone villa, 30-metre pool and two fine-dining restaurants.

Other new members include Susana Balbo Winemaker’s House & Spa Suites in Argentina’s Mendoza region; Le Tikehau by Pearl Resorts in French Polynesia; Awasi Santa Catarina in Brazil’s Governador Celso Ramos region; and The Sarvato restaurant in Jaipur, India.

 The organisation now features more than 580 hotels and restaurants across the globe.
