Location: While the property lists itself as being in London’s Marylebone neighbourhood, views over Bond Street confirm you’re just as close to Mayfair, with Soho equidistant. Bond Street station is the closest public transport link.
First impressions: Touchpoints with staff in the hotel lobby during check-in were incredibly light, but the personalised features began as I heard the dulcet tones of Barbra Streisand beautifully echoing around my suite. The staff here had clearly done their research, and I’m told, that for guests staying in certain suites, a record player will often be playing music by the guest’s favourite singer or band. Barbra is the soundtrack to my life and now the soundtrack to my stay at The BoTree (much to my husband’s dismay).
The facts: Opened in 2023, The BoTree is a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts’ Legend Collection and, most recently, Hilton’s Curio Collection. The property is home to 199 rooms including 30 suites – the design throughout is playful, bold and fun, with ceilings adorned with floral bloom displays, quirkily colourful paintings and sink-worthy sofas. Its design shouts “bright, young thing”, and that’s the market The BoTree attracts, albeit a very well-heeled, youthful and cool demographic. My Soho Suite was the perfect base for my family of four, with a sofa bed converted into a humongous bed for my son and plenty of space for a cot for my youngest. The room is unique and playful, with a melted disco ball hanging over the edge of a shelf, a private bar and enough space to host a little party. The bathroom is decked out with Jo Loves amenities, and you’ll also find a Dyson hairdryer and plenty of high-tech touches. On the dining front, sophisticated Italian restaurant Lavo is outrageously good, while the stylish BoTree Bar is a spot to be seen.
Ideal for: The BoTree feels very grown-up and definitely leans towards being best suited to adult guests. That said, children are very well catered for and will feel perfectly at home.
Explore: Shoppers will love the close proximity of Bond Street, New Bond Street and the surrounding haven of designer goods. Nearby Marylebone High Street should not be missed as it offers wonderful boutiques – both big brands and independents alike. I also recommend neighbouring Berkeley Square for a strong array of culinary options.
Wow: I am often critical of how badly personalisation can be delivered in luxury hotels, but hearing my favourite singer being played on arrival was just magical and felt very comforting. I was truly impressed.
Book it: Nightly rates start from £400.
