Belmond unveils entertainment carriage designed by filmmaker Baz Luhrmann

British Pullman, A Belmond Train is set to debut a private entertainment and dining carriage this summer.

 

Designed by world-renowned film director Baz Luhrmann and his wife, Oscar-winning costume designer Catherine Martin, the Celia carriage’s decor is inspired by London’s 1930s theatre scene, Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and the flora and fauna of the English countryside.

 

The carriage can cater for up to 12 guests, with a cocktail bar, lounge, dining space and entertainment area that can be converted into a dancefloor, all serviced by personal stewards.

 

Belmond said the space is designed to host “intimate gatherings, bespoke celebrations and exceptional dining experiences”, with a dedicated kitchen allowing a private chef to provide exclusive meals upon request.

 

Luhrmann said: “For Catherine and I, creating Celia was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, allowing us to push the boundaries of creativity, luxury and uniqueness. 

 

“Celia, at its heart, is a magical mystery tour – a travelling dining experience for friends or an intimate celebration, filled with food, music, wine, laughter and performance.”

 

Martin added: “On board I imagine people eating, dancing and falling in love, taking photographs, celebrating life’s great moments and adventures – all within a world that offers a pause from the chaos of everyday life.”

 

The Celia carriage will be included in all British Pullman, A Belmond Train departures from London Victoria as of summer 2026.
